چکیده

The structures of all stable tautomers of guanine⋅cytosine and adenine⋅thymine Watson–Crick base pairs produced by single and double proton transfers from the most stable structures are optimized using density functional theory (DFT) at the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level. The zwitterionic tautomer of guanine⋅cyosine is stable in a high-dielectric medium (water), but not in the gas phase. Normal mode calculations show that the infrared peak positions and intensities of the carbonyl, N–H, and O–H stretching modes are sensitive to the tautomer

Ionization Potential and Structure Relaxation of Adenine, Thymine, Guanine and Cytosine Bases and Their Base Pairs: A quantification of reactive sites

We present Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations using B3LYP/631++G** method to show relaxation in geometry of base pairs on cation radical formation. The changes in hydrogen bond length and angles show that in the cationic radical form the structure of the base pairs relaxes due to the distribution of charge. Eventually according to a recent study it has been found that, upon excitation...

Hydration energy of Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine and Thymine : Monte Carlo simulation

The hydration of biomolecules is vitally important in molecular biology, so in this paper thesolvation energy and radial distribution function of DNA bases have been calculated by theMonte Carlo simulation. The geometries of isolated Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine, and Thyminehave been optimized using 6-31+G(d,p) basis function sets. These geometries then will be used inthe Monte Carlo calculation o...

The effect of some mono and bivalent metal cations on the individual hydrogen bond energies in A−T and G−C base pairs

The effect of interactions of various Ia and IIa cations with two positions of the adenine-thymine (A−T) and guanine-cytosine (G−C) base pairs on the geometries and individual hydrogen bond (HB) energies have been investigated by using the atoms in molecules (AIM) method at the B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) level of theory. The cations that possess higher charge/radius (q/rad) ratio make higher changes o...

An ab initio quantum chemical investigation of TOMS nmr SHIELDING TENSORS IN Adenine-thymine, Adenine-uracil, Guanine-Cytosine & uracil-quartet: comparison between theoretical and experimental results

We have evaluated the NMR shielding tensors for A:T,G:C,A:U in Watson-crick, and U-quartet. We have computed NMR shielding tensors at B31YP level by using 6-31G(d) basis set. We have compute anisotropy and asymmetry in A:T,G:C,A:U and U-quartet. The NMR shielding tensors were calculated using the GIAO method. The natural bonding orbital analysis (NBO) were performed. NBO calculation have been ...

Density functional calculations of planar DNA base-pairs

We present a systematic Density Functional Theory (DFT) study of geometries and energies of the nucleic acid DNA bases (guanine, adenine, cytosine and thymine) and 30 different DNA base-pairs. We use a recently developed linear-scaling DFT scheme, which is specially suited for systems with large numbers of atoms. As a first step towards the study of large DNA systems, in this work: (i) We estab...
